LATAM and Delta Celebrate Joint Venture Success at LACTE 2024
It took place during the 20th edition of LACTE (Latin America Corporate Travel Expo) in São Paulo.
On February 24, during the 20th edition of LACTE (Latin America Corporate Travel Expo) in São Paulo, LATAM and Delta Air Lines came together to celebrate the impressive results of their Joint Venture (JV). The highlight of the event was a more than 100% increase in passenger volume between Brazil and the United States.
The event, organized by ALAGEV (Latin American Association of Corporate Travel and Event Management), serves as a platform to discuss trends and innovations in the corporate travel industry, according to aviation news outlet Aeroin.
Strengthening the LATAM-Delta Partnership
At the start of the event, Aline Mafra, Director of Sales and Marketing at LATAM Brazil, and Ricardo de Oliveira, Regional Sales Manager at Delta in Brazil, took the Main Stage to present the JV’s progress. They discussed the complementarity of their partnership, emphasizing service excellence and the numbers reflecting the strength of their alliance in connectivity and offerings.
“We want to reaffirm that LATAM is Delta’s key partner in Brazil and South America. Our numbers and joint operations prove the potential of this alliance,” said Aline Mafra.
Ricardo further highlighted the JV’s extensive network covering over 300 destinations across the Americas, boosting visibility for both airlines. He emphasized the triple-digit growth in passenger volume, underscoring their expertise in meeting corporate travel demands.
A Record-Breaking Increase in Passenger Volume
To showcase the Joint Venture’s success, an interactive booth was set up where promoters highlighted the benefits of the LATAM Pass program and engaged visitors with a game offering personalized gifts.
Under the theme “Destined to Be Together”, attendees explored the expansive airline networks of both carriers. A key takeaway was the surge in passenger numbers, from 797,000 in 2022 to 2 million in 2024, according to data from ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil). This figure solidifies the LATAM-Delta alliance as the leading partnership between South and North America.
New Routes and Increased Connectivity
Since launching the Joint Venture, LATAM and Delta have expanded their flight schedules, introducing:
- Rio de Janeiro–Atlanta (operated by Delta)
- São Paulo–Los Angeles (operated by LATAM)
- Increased frequency on the São Paulo–Atlanta route
- A seasonal route between Rio de Janeiro and New York-JFK
These additions reflect growing demand for travel between Brazil and North America, further emphasizing Brazil’s strategic importance in the aviation market across the Americas.
Operational Excellence: A Commitment to Punctuality
Beyond offering an extensive flight network, LATAM and Delta are also recognized for operational efficiency. The airlines rank third and fourth, respectively, in the On-Time Performance (OTP) Review 2024 by aviation consultancy Cirium, which ranks the world’s most punctual airlines.
