LATAM Brasil and GRU Airport have received approval from the National Civil Aviation Secretariat (SAC) for the construction contract of the new LATAM Lounge São Paulo, which will be located in Terminal 3 of Guarulhos Airport.
As part of its plans to enhance passenger experience, the airline will invest R$ 115 million in the project, with construction set to begin in April 2025. Covering an area of 4,700 square meters, the new space will be, according to the company, the largest VIP lounge in Latin America at a key airport within its regional network, as reported by our partner publication in Brazil, AEROIN.
New VIP Lounge Concept
LATAM will implement in São Paulo the new lounge concept that the airline first introduced in Santiago, Chile, in 2022. According to the company, these spaces aim to integrate a more modern and comfortable design, with a focus on sustainability and cultural representation of the country where they are located. Additionally, LATAM states that its lounges incorporate a commitment to talent development and the use of South American raw materials.
In the coming years, the airline plans to open new VIP lounges under this concept in the airports of Lima (Peru) and Miami (United States).
"We are constantly looking to redefine the travel experience. Our lounges are already globally recognized for their innovative design, outstanding service, and exceptional comfort. With this strategic investment in Guarulhos, we reinforce our commitment to providing a space that enhances every journey, offering our customers a sophisticated, welcoming environment that represents South America. This is another step in establishing LATAM as a global benchmark in hospitality and premium experiences," said Paulo Miranda, Vice President of Customers at LATAM Group.
From GRU Airport, executives also highlighted the impact of the new lounge on passenger experience.
"The new LATAM VIP lounge is a great example of how collaboration between GRU Airport and airlines can transform the passenger experience. We are excited about this new space, which will undoubtedly elevate the level of comfort and convenience for those passing through here," said Marcus Rosa, Commercial Director of GRU Airport.
Access and Next Steps
According to LATAM, the lounges will be available to LATAM Pass members with Black Signature, Black, and Platinum status, as well as passengers traveling in Premium cabin on international flights.
In the coming months, the airline will announce more details about the design of the new lounge in Guarulhos, along with the final construction schedule.
