LATAM Brasil added to its fleet the first Airbus A320neo assembled outside of Europe, marking a milestone in the company’s trajectory. Since 1999, when it received its first A319, LATAM has operated exclusively aircraft manufactured at Airbus’ traditional plants in Toulouse, France, and Hamburg, Germany.
The new aircraft, registered as PR-XBS and serial number 12205, was produced at the Airbus US Manufacturing Facility in Mobile, Alabama, United States. This facility, inaugurated in 2015, initially supplied the North American market, but in recent years it has also started meeting the demand of Latin American customers, which has helped reduce pressure on European assembly lines.
In August 2023, Aviacionline visited the Airbus US Manufacturing Facility, where the first A320neo produced in the United States for JetSMART was delivered.

The aircraft landed in Brazil last week, making its first arrival in Fortaleza. It then proceeded to São Carlos, in the state of São Paulo, on Friday, December 13, according to data recorded by AirNav Radar.
Meanwhile, a second aircraft, registered as PR-XBT and serial number 12259, is expected to arrive in the country in the coming days, close to the Christmas holiday, following the same delivery itinerary.
According to our partner site Aeroin, this addition not only strengthens LATAM Brasil’s fleet but also reflects the expansion of Airbus’ production capabilities in North America, solidifying the Mobile plant as a key player in supplying aircraft to the Latin American region.
