These new aircraft will replace the old EC135 and MD902 currently in service in these two German states. The new H145s will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including the latest police gear and bambi buckets for firefighting.

Stefan Thomé, CEO of Airbus Helicopters in Germany, stated, «We are proud that Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have chosen the H145 for their forces. The H145 will be the cornerstone of the German state police forces in the coming decades. In the country, there are already more than fifteen H145s, with another 15 helicopters expected in the near future.» The executive emphasized that globally, more than 200 helicopters from the H145 family are deployed in public service roles.

Airbus unveiled the latest version of its successful H145 at Heli-Expo 2019 in Atlanta. This update introduces a five-blade rotor that increases the helicopter’s payload by 150 kg. The simplicity of the new main rotor design also simplifies maintenance operations and enhances passenger comfort.

The model is powered by two Safran Arriel 2E engines, controlled by FADEC. It also features the Helionix digital avionics suite. There are more than 1,650 H145 family helicopters in service worldwide, accumulating over 7 million flight hours to date.
