Malaysia Airlines continues expanding the deployment of its new Airbus A330neo in Oceania, now operating flights to Auckland, New Zealand, four times a week—making it the only airline to fly this aircraft type to the Kiwi nation.
Flight MH145 was operated by an Airbus A330-900neo, registered as 9M-MNG, departing from Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 8:27 PM (local time) on March 11 and landing at Auckland Airport at 11:23 AM the next day after a nine-hour, 56-minute flight.

In addition to Auckland, Malaysia Airlines’ A330neo flies daily to Melbourne and three times a week to Bali. The airline currently operates two units of this model out of a total order of twenty, though deliveries have been delayed due to engine manufacturing issues.
The Airbus A330neo features overhead compartments that are 66% larger, allowing for more luggage space. It also reduces fuel consumption and emissions by up to 25% compared to previous-generation aircraft. The aircraft has a capacity of 297 passengers, with 28 seats in Business Class (1-2-1 configuration with direct aisle access), 24 seats in Economy Extra Legroom, and 245 in Economy.
