This new generation of aircraft optimizes fuel consumption efficiency and sets a new standard in travel experience for passengers. With these new models, the airline will modernize its wide-body fleet by retiring its A330-200/-300 aircraft.

The first A330neo is registered as 9M-MNG, which performed a ferry flight “MH5039” from Airbus’ facility in Toulouse at 20:52 local time on November 28, arriving at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 16:52 the following day, escorted by a Sukhoi Su-30MKM fighter jet from the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

    More comfort

Malaysia Airlines’ A330neo features 28 suites in Business Class with direct aisle access, fully flat beds, and each seat is equipped with 17.3-inch entertainment screens.

In the Economy cabin, there are 269 seats, 24 of which are Extra Legroom, with an ergonomic design and 13.3-inch entertainment screens.

Additionally, passengers will benefit from high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity and increased storage in the overhead compartments. The A330neo is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines.

The arrival of the A330neo allows Malaysia Airlines to replace the Airbus A350-900 on routes such as Doha or Sydney, enabling the A350s to be deployed on European routes. By late March 2025, Malaysia Airlines will resume its services between Kuala Lumpur and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

The A330neo will therefore be used on Asia-Pacific market services and key Middle East routes.

Malaysia Airlines becomes the twentieth airline to operate the fuel-efficient Airbus A330neo. To date, Airbus has delivered more than 140 A330neo aircraft to airlines worldwide, a model offering unique efficiency in its category.
