Miami International Airport has begun remodeling and expanding its South Terminal, increasing operational capacity and enhancing the passenger experience.
“More gates, more shops, and more jobs for the community. Our South Terminal expansion will add six new aircraft gates and additional concessions past security to improve your travel experience,” the airport announced on LinkedIn.
The project involves an initial $746 million investment and includes the construction of Concourse K, a modern space designed to accommodate six narrow-body aircraft gates or three wide-body aircraft gates.
Additionally, the expansion will feature retail areas, exclusive lounges, and upgraded facilities to significantly improve passenger comfort.
“Miami has become a crucial hub for global trade and tourism. Our infrastructure must respond to increasing market demands and prepare the airport for the future,” project officials stated in a release.
The statement highlights that the upgrades will include “spacious rest areas, luxury lounges, and modernized concession spaces, all designed to streamline travel for the more than 55 million passengers expected to use the airport annually in the coming years.”
Furthermore, Miami International Airport plans to renovate its Central Terminal starting in 2028 and is considering expansions to the North Terminal, continuing its comprehensive modernization efforts.
