7 Air, based in Miami, has conducted its first test flights as it progresses through the certification process to begin its cargo operations. This development comes after the United States Department of Transportation granted preliminary approval for its services.
The test flight took place on Thursday, January 23, according to the company’s LinkedIn profile. As part of the schedule, 7 Air operated routes from Miami to Austin and Fort Worth using one of its Boeing 737-800 freighters.
In a statement, the airline highlighted: "The inaugural test flight of 7 Air began today with the departure of our Boeing 737-800 from Miami, Florida, to Dallas, Texas, in the afternoon."
According to data from the CIrium platform, 7 Air's current fleet consists of two passenger-to-freighter (P2F) converted Boeing 737-800s, registered as N782AC and N330FL.
The airline expects to add two more aircraft in the coming months. Its business model includes charter cargo operations to the 48 contiguous states of the United States, as well as South America, the Caribbean, Mexico, Canada, and Alaska.
In parallel with the certification process, the company has noted on its website that it's working on developing specialized cargo handling facilities and implementing logistical systems to manage various types of goods.
7 Air is part of the Xtreme Group conglomerate, which also oversees subsidiaries specializing in aircraft maintenance, leasing, and MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) services, providing comprehensive support for the airline's operations.
