The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ) and SKY Airline have signed a strategic partnership to promote Peru as a tourist destination in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and the United States. As part of the initiative, PROMPERÚ and SKY Airline will implement a fully digital advertising campaign featuring promotional fares aimed at attracting tourists to explore the regions of Arequipa, Cusco, Lima, Loreto, Piura, and Tumbes. The promotion aims to achieve more than 216 million advertising impressions in the selected markets, strengthening Peru’s international air connectivity.

The partnership also aligns with PROMPERÚ’s ongoing “Peru Wow” campaign, which showcases Peru’s natural and cultural wonders to capture the attention of travelers from strategic markets including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, the United States, Mexico, Spain, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Colombia, and Ecuador.

SKY Airline’s Role in Strengthening Peru’s Connectivity

SKY Airline, a Chilean low-cost airline and the second largest in its market, currently operates 138 monthly flights on the Santiago-Lima route, in addition to 30 flights from Miami and Sao Paulo to Lima, and 17 flights between Buenos Aires and Lima. Since 2019, SKY Airline has expanded its reach with its subsidiary, Sky Airline Perú, enhancing its presence in the Peruvian market and facilitating international tourism.

Chile and the United States Lead International Arrivals

Chile and the United States are the primary sources of international visitors to Peru, followed closely by Brazil and Argentina. Between January and September 2024, Peru received 2,449,582 international tourists, with over half coming from the countries involved in this partnership. According to PROMPERÚ, promotional campaigns like this are essential for encouraging inbound tourism and strengthening Peru’s position as a top travel destination in Latin America.

Through this international promotional strategy, MINCETUR and PROMPERÚ aim to further solidify Peru’s reputation as an attractive and diverse destination, reaffirming their commitment to driving growth in the country’s tourism industry.
