On January 24, 2024, Japan Airlines (JAL) launched commercial operations with its first Airbus A350-1000, registered as JA01WJ. This milestone marks the first time the Japanese airline has deployed aircraft from the European manufacturer for its long-haul operations. The A350-1000 will gradually replace the Boeing 777-300ER, and so far, JAL has received nine units of this model.
The aircraft, which began international service last year on the New York-JFK route, has since expanded to destinations such as Dallas/Fort Worth and London-Heathrow, where it operates one of the airline’s two daily flights. By 2025, the A350-1000 is expected to also serve routes to Los Angeles and Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
