The Government of Jujuy and Paranair have confirmed the continuation of flights between Asunción (ASU), Paraguay, and San Salvador de Jujuy (JUJ), Argentina, until May 2026.
This agreement extends operations beyond the summer season, which was originally scheduled from November 2024 to April 2025.
- Flight ZP 870 ASU 11:40 - 13:20 JUJ / Thursdays and Sundays.
- Flight ZP 871 JUJ 14:00 - 15:40 ASU / Thursdays and Sundays.
This decision provides greater stability for travel agencies and passengers.
According to a statement from the Government of Jujuy, ticket demand has shown steady growth and is projected to further consolidate passenger flow in the coming months.
Data from the National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) indicates that between November 2024 and January 2025, Paranair transported 985 passengers from Jujuy, with an occupancy rate of 43%.
On the other hand, the Paraguayan airline plans to resume its flights to Iquique, Chile, evaluating the possibility of making a stopover in Jujuy, which would enhance connectivity between both destinations.
Iquique has struggled to regain its international connectivity since the pandemic, which included routes to Bolivia, Paraguay, and Peru.
When the airline was part of Amaszonas, it also operated a route between Salta and Iquique, two key mining markets in northern Argentina and Chile. Given that Paranair already operates flights to Salta and Jujuy, there is potential to reactivate this connection to Iquique.
The expansion of operations will depend on aircraft availability. Currently, Paranair's fleet consists of two CRJ 200 aircraft, which cover eight destinations in Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and, during the summer season, Brazil.
