Robinson Helicopter Company has officially introduced the R88, the first completely new helicopter developed by the U.S. manufacturer in nearly 15 years. According to the company, the aircraft is designed to expand its product lineup and meet the growing demand for more versatile and affordable single-engine helicopters.
The R88, powered by a 1,000-horsepower Safran Arriel 2W engine, will accommodate up to ten occupants (two in the cockpit and eight passengers) with an estimated internal payload capacity of over 1,270 kg. The helicopter boasts a range of more than 350 nautical miles (approximately 648 km) and a flight endurance exceeding three and a half hours.
Versatile and Configurable Design
The manufacturer highlights that the aircraft features a highly configurable flat-floor cabin, allowing for multiple configurations suited for passenger transport, medical evacuations, public safety, and general cargo. Additionally, it includes a fold-down truck-style rear door to facilitate loading and unloading operations.

Smith emphasized that the company is delivering a highly capable and affordable aircraft with immediate parts availability and predictable maintenance costs.
