SAS has announced an expansion of its codeshare agreement with the Air France-KLM Group, allowing passengers to access a wider network of destinations across Europe, South America, and Africa.
With this update, the Scandinavian airline will enhance connectivity to and from Scandinavia, adding new destinations in:
- Asia: Osaka and Bangkok
- Brazil: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Fortaleza, and Salvador de Bahia
- South Africa: Johannesburg and Cape Town
“Our partnership with Air France-KLM continues to create new opportunities for our travelers. We are thrilled to offer flights to Fortaleza and Salvador de Bahia for the first time in SAS history. And this is just the beginning—our list of codeshare destinations will keep growing, improving connectivity and convenience for both SAS customers and our partners’ passengers,” said Paul Verhagen, SAS Chief Commercial Officer.
Strategic Shift: From Star Alliance to SkyTeam
Following its restructuring process and partial acquisition by Air France-KLM, SAS made the strategic decision to exit Star Alliance and join SkyTeam. In this new phase, the airline has signed key agreements with Delta Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic, Air Europa, and Air France-KLM Group.
Additionally, SAS has scheduled new routes to major SkyTeam hubs, including:
- Madrid
- Seattle-Tacoma
- Seoul-Incheon
- New York-JFK
With this expansion, SAS aims to strengthen its global network and enhance travel options for passengers flying to and from Scandinavia.
