SATENA Expands Pacific Routes with New Twin Otter Aircraft
The new aircraft will facilitate access to municipalities with limited infrastructure, strengthening SATENA's presence in the Colombian Pacific and other strategic regions.
SATENA is expanding its coverage in Colombia’s Pacific region with the launch of a new route to Juradó, made possible by the addition of its second Twin Otter DHC-6 Series 400. This aircraft is specifically designed to operate in airports with limited infrastructure and short runways, enhancing connectivity in remote areas of the country.
SATENA’s President, Major General Óscar Zuluaga Castaño, emphasized that the arrival of this aircraft is a key milestone in the airline’s expansion strategy.
"With this new Twin Otter, we are not only increasing our operational capacity but also bringing connectivity to communities that rely on air transport for their development. This addition represents an investment in territorial equity and progress for Colombia’s most isolated regions," he stated.
Aircraft Arrival and Operational Capabilities
The Twin Otter DHC-6 Series 400 arrived in Colombia after a transcontinental journey, making stops in Great Falls and Little Rock (United States), Grand Cayman (Cayman Islands), and finally Bogotá. Known for its versatility in challenging weather and geographic conditions, this aircraft is an ideal choice for SATENA’s remote routes.
Expanded Network and Fleet Modernization
Beyond the new Juradó route, the aircraft will reinforce operations in:
✅ Acandí
✅ Quibdó
✅ Pizarro
✅ Caucasia
✅ Bahía Solano
✅ Nuquí
✅ Montelíbano
✅ Ocaña
✅ Cúcuta
✅ El Bagre
This enhancement ensures greater operational stability and improved access to these regions.
The fleet expansion is part of SATENA’s modernization plan, which includes:
🚀 Six new aircraft by the end of 2025
🚀 A total of eight Twin Otter aircraft in service by 2026
This strategy aims to increase coverage in airports without regular aviation services, fostering commerce, tourism, and regional integration.

"SATENA doesn’t just connect destinations—it connects lives," added Zuluaga Castaño. "We continue working to bring aviation to every corner of Colombia, providing access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for communities that rely on air transport for their well-being."
Tickets and Availability
Tickets for these new destinations are now available through SATENA’s official channels and authorized sales points.
