Smoke in the cabin of an Alba Star aircraft operating for Flybondi in Jujuy: What we know
In the afternoon of January 22, a Boeing 737-800 from Alba Star, operating under a wet-lease agreement for Flybondi, was involved in an incident at Jujuy Airport that required the postponement of the aircraft's operations until safety checks are completed.
For reasons yet to be determined, a support vehicle equipped with a luggage loading/unloading belt malfunctioned while assisting flight FO5193, which connects the capital city of Jujuy with Buenos Aires.
According to airport sources, the smoke emitted by the faulty equipment—owned by Flybondi's ramp service—entered the aircraft, triggering smoke alarms in the cabin, prompting the crew to initiate the procedures required for such a situation.
The company stated that "A failure in a luggage belt assisting aircraft registration EC-NLK, operated by Alba Star for Flybondi, affected the continuity of flight FO5193. There was no damage to the aircraft, nor were passengers affected by this situation. The exact time at which the aircraft will resume its scheduled operation is being determined."
Developing story.
