The Tajik airline strengthens its fleet with two Boeing 737-8 aircraft through a leasing agreement with DAE Capital. The aircraft are set to arrive in 2026.
Somon Air has signed an agreement with DAE Capital (UAE) to lease two Boeing 737-8 aircraft, set to join its fleet in 2026. This move strengthens the airline’s position as Tajikistan’s leading carrier and aligns with its modernization and expansion strategy.
The contract was signed at Somon Air’s headquarters in Dushanbe by the airline’s CEO, Abdulkosim Valiev, and DAE Capital President, David Houlihan.
"Thanks to the support of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the civil aviation sector continues to grow. Acquiring these aircraft is part of our modernization strategy, allowing us to enhance operational efficiency and improve passenger experience with greater comfort and safety," said Abdulkosim Valiev, CEO of Somon Air.
According to Somon Air, the Boeing 737-8 offers fuel efficiency, extended flight range, and improved operational performance, key factors for expanding the airline’s route network and increasing flight frequencies.

Since its founding in 2008, Somon Air has established a strong presence in international markets. The airline currently operates a fleet of Boeing 737-800 and 737-900 aircraft, offering regular flights between Tajikistan and Germany, the UAE, Turkey, China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iran, India, Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
