Benjamín Matienzo International Airport (TUC), serving San Miguel de Tucumán in northwestern Argentina, has begun receiving vehicles and spare parts for the upcoming MotoGP race at the Termas de Río Hondo circuit.
The airport has already welcomed two Boeing 747-400F freighters operated by Cargolux, with two more cargo flights expected to arrive.
Key Hub for Cargo Operations
Tucumán is one of Argentina’s busiest cargo airports, particularly during the peak export season for blueberries and citrus fruits, as well as for MotoGP logistics.
The airport is equipped to handle large aircraft, including Boeing 747s and 777s.
Between March 2 and March 8, Tucumán will receive four cargo flights from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), where the previous round of the MotoGP World Championship took place.
So far, two flights have already landed, while the third and fourth are currently en route at the time of writing.
Flight Routes and Logistics
The flights, operated by Cargolux Airlines and Qatar Airways, make technical stops in Africa and Brazil before reaching Tucumán.
Once the race concludes, the airport will again handle large cargo flights to transport vehicles and equipment to Austin, Texas, where the next round of the championship will take place.
