In a recent reservation system update, it has been observed that Turkish Airlines will increase its flight frequencies to Santiago (SCL), Chile; São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU), Brazil; and Caracas (CCS), Venezuela.
According to AeroRoutes, the airline will expand its operations in the region from 41 to 44 weekly flights, reaching a total of over 98,000 seats per month, based on data from Cirium.
Increased Frequencies to Caracas
Turkish Airlines will increase its Caracas service from 7 to 8 weekly flights, with three direct (non-stop) flights and five operating in a triangular route with Havana (HAV). These flights will continue to be operated with the Boeing 787-9, configured to accommodate 300 passengers.
Significant Growth in Santiago (SCL)
The largest increase will be in Santiago (SCL), a destination inaugurated on December 19, 2023. From January 9, 2026, flight frequency will rise from 4 to 6 weekly flights, operating daily except Wednesdays. This expansion will increase seat availability from 2,632 to 3,948 seats per week, maintaining the use of the Airbus A350-900, which has a 329-passenger capacity.
The Santiago route is an extension of Turkish Airlines' São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU) stopover, where flights will also increase from 11 to 13 weekly frequencies. Out of these, 7 flights will continue to Buenos Aires/Ezeiza (EZE).
South American Expansion Strategy
These adjustments are part of Turkish Airlines' broader expansion in South America, which also includes replacing the Boeing 787-9 with the Airbus A350-900 on the Bogotá (BOG) route starting in March 2025.
With 131 countries and 299 international destinations, Turkish Airlines holds the title of the airline with the largest global reach. Its extensive network makes it an attractive option for travelers connecting to various world regions.
In South America, the airline is widely used for travel to Europe and East Asia, but in recent years, the number of African passengers using the region as a connection point to the United States has also increased.
Turkish Airlines' Growth in the Region
According to company data, Turkish Airlines transported 1,119,026 passengers in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean in 2024, achieving an average load factor of 82%, representing a 5.5% growth compared to 2023.
