Turkish Airlines upgrades Bogotá route with Airbus A350-900, boosting capacity and comfort
On Sunday, March 30, Turkish Airlines began operating the Airbus A350-900 on its route to Bogotá, replacing the Boeing 787-9. This change represents a 9.6% increase in weekly capacity, now reaching 4,606 seats on the triangular Istanbul–Bogotá–Panama route.
The new A350-900 configuration includes 32 business class seats and 297 in economy, compared to the 30 and 270 offered by the previous aircraft model. The upgrade will also benefit connectivity to Panama City, which was already served by the A350-900 in 2024. Turkish Airlines further supports the route with three additional weekly frequencies between Istanbul and Panama using the Boeing 787-9.
The A350-900 is a wide-body, long-range aircraft built with composite materials such as carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), reducing weight and enhancing aerodynamic efficiency. Powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, the aircraft delivers improved fuel efficiency and lower noise levels.

The interior is designed to enhance passenger comfort on long-haul flights, featuring a dual-aisle layout, cabin pressurization equivalent to an altitude of 2,600 meters, and a ventilation system that refreshes the air every 2–3 minutes with HEPA filters removing up to 99.97% of airborne particles. Ambient lighting, larger windows, and lie-flat seats in business class further elevate the onboard experience.
Turkish Airlines’ daily schedule for the route is as follows:
- Istanbul–Bogotá: departs 09:40, arrives 15:05
- Bogotá–Panama: departs 16:25, arrives 18:20
- Panama–Istanbul: departs 20:00, arrives 16:55 (+1)
