United has introduced a new domestic first class seat that features a wireless charging station in each armrest. This new seat is estimated to be available on 200 short/medium haul aircraft by 2026 included in the Boeing 737 Next Generation, Airbus A321neo and Boeing 737 MAX fleet.

The new United First product features vegan leather upholstery, 13-inch seatback entertainment screens, 18-inch tray tables, Bluetooth connectivity, privacy screens and an ergonomic cushion and will debut this month on a Boeing 737 and customers will be able to enjoy this product this summer.

«This new United First seat is designed for the modern traveler: more cargo options, larger spaces for devices, food, beverages and personal items, and greater privacy«, said Mark Muren, United’s Chief Identity, Product and Loyalty Officer.

Allows multiple devices to be charged at once.

Customers can quickly charge multiple electronic devices at the same time using three types of charging docks located in each seat: wireless, AC household plug and USB-C. The wireless charger is located on the armrest so passengers can view notifications and keep their hands and trays free.

More room to work and relax

A wider 18-inch-long, 8.5-inch-wide tray table has a built-in tablet holder and provides enough room for most standard laptops. Between each seat are authentic Italian quartzite cocktail tables and bottle holders, so passengers don’t have to balance devices, drinks or snacks on a single tray table.

More adjustable seating with greater privacy

Customers will have greater privacy in the roomy vegan leather seats with an 11-inch-long, 19-inch-wide bulkhead between adjacent seats, winged headrests and tray tables that drop down from the outboard armrests to minimize passenger-to-passenger contact.

The seat features a five-inch tilt range, an adjustable aisle armrest that lowers and an ergonomically designed seat cushion that can be lowered to one inch to accommodate a wide range of heights.

This announcement marks United’s first upgrade in domestic first class seat design since 2025. United First’s new product was created with a team of experts, including the airline’s engineering teams, University of Michigan biomechanics researcher Dr. Matthew Reed and design firm Priestman Goode.
