WestJet Expands Transatlantic Service from Nova Scotia with New Halifax–Amsterdam Route
WestJet Expands Its European Network with New Six-Times-Weekly Service Between Halifax and Amsterdam
WestJet is expanding its transatlantic network from Nova Scotia with the launch of a new nonstop route between Halifax and Amsterdam, adding another European destination to its growing network. This new service marks a 97% increase in transatlantic seat capacity from Nova Scotia compared to the previous year.
The route will begin operations on May 29, 2025, with six weekly flights aboard Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Currently, WestJet’s European network from Halifax includes destinations such as Dublin, Edinburgh, London-Gatwick, and, starting May 16, 2025, Paris-Charles de Gaulle.
"The new Halifax–Amsterdam service strengthens connectivity with Europe and supports tourism and economic growth in Nova Scotia. This investment will create new opportunities for travelers and businesses in both regions," said Jared Mikoch-Gerke, WestJet’s Director of Alliances and Airport Affairs.
Through its codeshare agreement with KLM, WestJet will provide access to multiple European cities via Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport. Similarly, KLM passengers will be able to connect to additional destinations within Canada.
Colton LeBlanc, Nova Scotia’s Minister of Growth and Development, emphasized the importance of this new international connection: "Establishing routes like Amsterdam strengthens tourism and expands access to new markets, creating opportunities for local businesses and attracting more visitors to the region."
