The first service was flight W9 4499 on the London/Luton (LTN) – Istanbul (IST) route which started on March 28. Also, Wizz Air will provide daily flights to Turkey’s capital city from London/Gatwick (LGW) and Budapest (BUD), complementing with three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) to Iasi, Romania (IAS).

«We are delighted to witness the launch of these new routes to Istanbul. With influences from two continents, Istanbul is a popular and beloved destination, offering visitors a unique experience rich in culture, history, food and fashion. We look forward to welcoming more guests from the UK this year, who will have the opportunity to see all that the city has to offer«, Arzu Kahraman Yilmaz, Advisor to the Turkish Culture and Information Office.

Wizz Air continues to expand its international offering for the summer season, with new services from Gatwick (LGW) to Antalya (AYT) and Dalaman (DLM) in Turkey and Verona, Italy (VRN); at Luton (LTN) to Bydgoszcz (BZG) and Lodz (LCJ) in Poland and Amman, Jordan (AMM); and Budapest (BUD) to Antalya (AYT) and Dammam, Saudi Arabia (DMM).

The airline now has nearly 30 routes from Gatwick (LGW) and more than 60 at Luton (LTN), where it is the airline operator in terms of offered seat kilometers (ASK) according to Cirium.

«Together with our recently announced routes to Antalya and Dalaman from Gatwick Airport, today’s announcement demonstrates our continued commitment to serving the Turkish market, as well as offering enhanced connectivity, affordable fares and even more choice for our UK customers. Istanbul is not only a new destination for Wizz Air, but also a new destination for London Luton Airport«, said Marion Geoffroy, managing director of Wizz Air UK.
