As part of the Argentine Air Force’s capacity recovery plan, the institution will receive a Lockheed C-130H Hercules in the coming months to expand the transport capacity of the I Air Brigade at Palomar, Buenos Aires.
The operation to acquire the aircraft is in the final stages and will be received under the leasing modality (lease with option to purchase) within the financing allowed by FONDEF. In the next few days, it is estimated that personnel will be sent on commission to sign the contract.
This aircraft was serving in the 118th Wing of the Tennessee Air National Guard, based at Joint Base Berry Field in Nashville. The registration of this Hercules is No. 89-1188 and it is a 34-year-old H version, which was recently in active service.
Air Force personnel are expected to be dispatched in February for inspection and overhaul of the aircraft. According to reports from several sources, the aircraft will be brought to the country with propellers supplied from Argentina so that it can be transferred from the United States.
