The organizers of the Farnborough Airshow made it known that they will ban the participation of Russian companies. Hence they are joining the various festivals and organizations that have suspended any presence of the Eurasian country after the invasion of Ukraine.
The air show will take place between July 18 and 22, 2022. This means that no aircraft, aerospace company, or other participants from Russia will be able to exhibit their products.
«Following the ongoing events taking place in Eastern Europe, we have taken the decision to suspend Russian participation in the Farnborough International Airshow 2022,» the organizers announced in a statement.
«Our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine and all those affected by the current situation. We continue to hope for a timely and peaceful resolution,» they added.
This is not the first time Farnborough has made a similar decision. In 2018, Russian companies were banned from displaying military aircraft. The move came after the European Union imposed an embargo on arms imports from Russia following the 2014 aggression in the Donetsk, Crimea, and Lugansk region of Ukraine.
That year’s Air Show only allowed the display of Russian commercial aviation such as Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCA), Irkut, and Tupolev.
