The Teruel Airport Consortium announced the construction of a hangar for the production of stratospheric airships intended for telecommunications and space research services.

The budget allocated for the tender exceeds 36 million euros and will be financed through the Teruel Investment Fund (FITE). The execution period will be 20 months from the start of the works, with a forecast for completion by the first half of 2026.

The new facilities will consist of three differentiated areas: a goods reception area, a production area, and a hangar. The building will have a rectangular floor plan of 376.20 x 70.80 meters. In front of the east facade of the hangar, a platform for the takeoff of the airship will be constructed, with dimensions of 300 x 220 meters.

Additionally, there will be a platform located to the west of the building to be used as a goods unloading area. On the south facade of the hangar, there will be parking for workers, as well as two parking spaces for helium tanker vehicles.

The managing director of Teruel Airport, Alejandro Ibrahim, stated that «this is the most important and substantial investment made at the airport to date«.

The mayor of the Teruel City Council, Juan Carlos Cruzado, said: «these actions at the airport place Teruel on the map, and importantly, each hangar we build at Teruel Airport brings in a new company that generates direct skilled jobs, benefits existing businesses in Teruel, and promotes the arrival of new enterprises«.
