On the third day of the Dubai Air Show, ATR signed an agreement with Afrijet for three ATR 72-600 aircraft. The African airline will now have a total of four units.
The new aircraft will be equipped with state-of-the-art Pratt & Whitney PW127XT-M engines that consume less fuel.
«In order to be efficient in Africa, an aircraft has to be profitable, reliable, and operationally versatile and that is why we need these new ATR aircraft. Creating connectivity in the Gulf of Guinea is essential for the growing trade and community integration in the CEMAC area. As an operator in Equatorial Africa, home to the second-largest forest in the world, we are proud to be prepared to invest in a device with a low carbon footprint and a controlled and predictable ecological impact» said Mark Gaffajoli, CEO of Afrijet.
«Afrijet continues to rely on ATR for its business and we are always proud to see an airline move from a heritage ATR fleet to the introduction of state-of-the-art aircraft under a new fleet purchase. Being in the position to do this at such challenging times really shows that Afrijet has an excellent strategy and business model that they are accomplishing extremely well. It also shows that the ATR is the perfect aircraft to provide regional connectivity in Africa», added Stefano Bortoli, CEO of ATR Aircraft.
