The African airline, Ethiopian Airlines, announced that it will resume its Addis Ababa-Karachi, Pakistan flights on May 1. The service will have four weekly flights and the aircraft to be used has not yet been specified.
Ethiopian Airlines is returning to Karachi after a 19-year absence. On May 1, flight ET 694 will depart from Bole Addis Ababa International Airport (ADD) at 21:45 (local time). It is scheduled to arrive at Jinnah International Airport (KHI), Karachi, at 5:05 (local time).
«We are very happy to return to Karachi almost two decades after the last time we flew to this city. As Pakistan’s most populous city, Karachi will be a crucial gateway to Pakistan and the entire South Asian region. As the only flight connecting Pakistan with Africa, the planned service to Karachi will significantly contribute to strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two regions. It will also offer convenient air connectivity to the growing number of Pakistani investors in Africa as well as tourists.» Expressed Mesfin Tasew, Group CEO of Ethiopian Airlines.
The flight schedule will be as follows:
ET 694 ADD 21:45 KHI 05:05 (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday).
ET 695 KHI 05:55 ADD 08:55 (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Thursday, Saturday)
The Ethiopian airline began flying in July 1966 from Addis Ababa to Karachi. The service was suspended in December 1971. Then in June 1993 reestablished the connection between the two cities until July 2004.
