Argentina´s immigration department reported this afternoon that starting at 00 hours on Friday, October 30, the entry of natives and foreigners living in neighboring countries for tourism will be allowed through Ezeiza International Airport and the maritime connection with Uruguay, both located in Buenos Aires.
This occurs after the publication of Decree 814/2020, which softens the conditions for the opening of borders, after seven months of being restricted only to Argentine citizens or residents.
Therefore, citizens or foreign residents in Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay may enter the Argentine Republic. The entry of travelers from third countries who triangulate through a connection is to remain banned at this time. Domestic travel is still restricted to essential personnel and special needs, so all travelers must stay within the limits of Buenos Aires’ city and its immediate surroundings.
Foreigners who wish to enter Argentine territory must submit an Electronic Affidavit within 48 hours prior to boarding, a PCR test with a negative result for COVID-19, and health insurance that includes coverage for that disease.
“This decree does not modify the entry conditions for Argentines and residents in the country, who may continue to do so by air, sea, or through the five land entry points currently enabled,” the immigration department clarified through a statement.
Argentines entering through Ezeiza or the Buquebués terminal may also choose to perform a PCR test or quarantine for 14 days. Those who enter through the rest of the border crossings must carry out a mandatory quarantine.
Immigration services also clarified that the airlines will carry the costs of compliance enforcement with the measures prior to boarding, being subject to fines in case of failure to comply.
