The current situation for Bolivian airlines is not favorable at all and this was made known by Sergio de Urioste, founder and president of the airline company Amaszonas, who asked the government of that country to work together to come up with a plan to save the airlines in this complex situation as a result of the pandemic.

In an interview for the newspaper La Razón, de Urioste called for a union between local air operators, also requesting the collaboration of the government to ‘fight’ in the regional market, proposing the creation of a block of local airlines in order to operate international routes taking advantage of the aircraft available to the different Bolivian operators, ranging from the capacity of 90 passengers in the case of Ecojet, 100 of Amaszonas and 200 of Boliviana de Aviación.

In addition, de Urioste issued a critic mentioning the lack of economic aid to the companies by the Bolivian government, a situation quite common in the region.

The manager said that the crisis caused by the pandemic forced them to lay off 200 workers and cut tickets by half, as well as reduce operations by 20% and 30% compared to 2019 and stop their flights in Paraguay and Uruguay.
