SKY Airline receives authorization to operate domestic flights in Ecuador

SKY Airline has received authorization from the National Civil Aviation Council of Ecuador to provide public, domestic, scheduled, scheduled passenger, cargo and mail air transportation services in a combined form, this is the company’s third subsidiary in South America after Chile and Peru.

The airline proposed the following routes and frequencies:

  • Quito – Guayaquil – Quito: Up to 33 weekly flights.
  • Quito and/or Guayaquil – Baltra – Quito and/or Guayaquil: Up to 9 weekly flights.
  • Quito and/or Guayaquil – San Cristobal – Quito and/or Guayaquil: Up to 3 flights per week.
  • Quito – Manta – Quito: Up to 7 weekly flights.
  • Quito – Cuenca – Quito: Up to 7 weekly flights.
  • Quito – Francisco de Orellana – Quito: Up to 7 weekly flights.
  • Quito – Loja – Quito: Up to 7 weekly flights.
  • Quito – Santa Rosa – Quito: Up to 7 weekly flights.

Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft will be used and the company’s main hub will be the Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito.

Despite Ecuador’s recent political and social problems, the country has seen strong growth in inbound tourism in recent years, accompanied by increasing air connectivity.
