This Sunday, October 30, LATAM Airlines will resume its regular flights between São Paulo-Guarulhos airport and Boston, United States, which had been suspended in April 2020 after the outbreak of the pandemic.
The service will have a frequency of three flights per week, departing from Guarulhos on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 22:50 to arrive at Logan Airport at 7:35 the following day. In the opposite direction, it will take off from Boston as LA 8165 on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 17:30, landing in Sao Paulo at 5:35 the following day.
LATAM will deploy on this route its Boeing 787-9 with capacity for 300 passengers, 30 in Business, 57 in Economy+ and 213 in Economy. According to our Brazilian media partner AEROIN citing sources from the airline, the first flights have an average load factor of 75%.
This will also mean for LATAM to resume all the U.S. destinations it operated from Brazil prior to the pandemic (New York, Miami, Orlando and Boston).
Data compiled by Aviacionline through the Department of Transportation (DoT) indicates that in 2019 São Paulo – Guarulhos (GRU) was the sixth most important U.S. market in Latin America where 2,936,814 passengers were mobilized.
In November LATAM plans to operate up to 192 flights between Brazil and the United States, representing a 305% increase in capacity (in ASK) compared to the same month in 2021. This growth will also be driven by the new Fortaleza-Miami and Guarulhos-Orlando routes, as well as the expansion of Guarulhos-Miami (from 3 to 10 weekly flights) and Guarulhos-New York/JFK (from 3 to 7 weekly flights).

At the Latin American level, LATAM’s capacity to and from the U.S. will grow by 45.7% during November versus 2021 as seen in Cirium, but will still be 21% below the same month in 2019.
