#TBT: Aerochaco flights in 2009

Last Thursday (23) we published the note on TBT of Aerochaco flights in 1962, which were carried out in De Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver with capacity for 7 passengers. Operations were focused on Chaco, jumping to some nearby provinces such as Formosa.

The «original Aerochaco» ceased operations in the 1980s after being privatized and renamed to Aerolínea Federal Argentina (ALFA).

In 2008, the governor of the province of Chaco, Jorge Capitanich, announced the creation of a trust fund with the purpose of starting the services of the new Aerochaco, which began in December of that year.

Considering the new Aerochaco, the aircraft chosen for these operations were the McDonnell Douglas MD-87 and the Jetstream 32 in agreement with Macair. The MDs were for high-density routes, while the Jetstream 32s were for shorter hauls.

These are the connections that the company planned to make to and from Resistencia. In the end, many of the routes were never carried out.

Four years after the inauguration of operations, Aerochaco ceased its services after losing provincial and national support, mainly due to the nationalization of Aerolíneas Argentinas a few months earlier.
