Air Lease Corporation (ALC) confirmed an order for 32 Boeing 737 MAX-8 and MAX-9 aircraft to expand its portfolio. According to the company, a leader in the aircraft leasing market, they are looking to meet the demand for modern, efficient aircraft amid a gradual recovery in the industry and demand for air travel.

John L. Plueger, CEO and President of Air Lease Corporation, welcomed the signing of the definitive purchase agreement. «We believe that the economic and operating advantages of the 737 MAX will serve our airline customers well as they favor modern, fuel efficient aircraft», he said.

With the completion of the order, the company will reach 130 units of this type available. Ihssane Mounir, Boeing’s Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, praised the MAX’s qualities. «The 737 MAX family has already proved its value within ALC’s narrowbody portfolio, providing operators with excellent fuel efficiency and flexibility across different networks», he said.

Despite the crisis triggered by the two accidents involving 737 MAX aircraft in 2018 and 2019, demand for the model is recovering and attracting interest from different markets.

The homogeneity of the different versions of the latest single-aisle aircraft from Boeing favours the optimisation of airlines’ fleets according to the type of operations to be carried out. The MAX consumes less fuel and emits less carbon dioxide than previous versions of the 737.
