Iberia to Cancel 400 Flights Amid Union Strike

In the context of the strike called by the unions for the upcoming days of January 5, 6, 7, and 8, coinciding with the Three Kings Day holiday, the Iberia Group has announced the cancellation of a total of 444 flights. This measure affects 270 Iberia flights, 64 Iberia Express flights, and 110 Air Nostrum flights, impacting 45,641 passengers.

The company has informed that it will offer alternative travel options to relocate travelers affected by the cancellations. Iberia is committed to communicating the possibilities of relocation to other flights as soon as possible.

Despite the cancellations, Iberia plans to operate 76% of its scheduled flights, totaling 836 out of the 1,106 originally scheduled. Most long-haul flights, including those of LEVEL, will be maintained, while cancellations will be distributed among domestic (51%) and European (49%) flights. Iberia Express and Air Nostrum will operate 88% and 72% of their flights, respectively.

For passengers with flights booked on the affected dates, the company has facilitated the option to change travel dates or request a refund of the ticket price. This process can be carried out through Iberia’s website, travel agencies where the purchases were made, or the airline’s Customer Service Center (the phone number to call from Spain is 900 111 500, while the number for each country can be found at iberia.com), which has reinforced its staff to meet the demand, although it is warned that waiting times may be longer than usual.

Iberia has called on travelers to check in in advance through its website and to arrive at airports earlier than usual, anticipating possible complications due to the strike. The company appreciates the understanding of its customers and apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this situation.
