The Venezuelan government has introduced new measures for travelers entering the country, focusing particularly on Venezuelan nationals and dual citizens. These regulations are effective immediately and must be adhered to by all travelers.

According to the new rules, Venezuelan citizens are required to have a valid Venezuelan passport at the time of travel. If their passport has expired, they must apply for a “Document of Travel” through a Venezuelan consulate or embassy, and this document must be registered with the airline at least 72 hours before departure. It is important to note that Venezuelan citizens will not be allowed to board using only a Venezuelan identity card, even if it is still valid.

Additionally, dual citizens must present a valid Venezuelan passport. If their Venezuelan passport has expired, they will not be permitted to board, regardless of the validity of the passport from their other nationality.

LATAM, one of the airlines still connecting Venezuela via Colombia, has issued provisions for travelers who have purchased tickets for flights between Bogotá and Caracas from September 27 to October 1 can change their flights or request a refund without penalties through the My Trips section on the LATAM Airlines website.
